Man in Water of Leith sparks rescue callout before arrest over threatening and abusive behaviour

Police were called shortly before 5pm on Tuesday following a report of a man in the water by Shore Place in Leith.

Pictures shared online also showed an ambulance, the fire service water rescue unit and a local coastguard team parked up nearby.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called around 4.50pm on Tuesday, 11 August, 2020, following the report of a man in the water at Leith Shore Place, Edinburgh.

“Officers attended and a 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with threatening and abusive behaviour following his exit from the water.

“There were no injuries.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
